The Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972 are applicable to all permanent Central Government Servants including Civilian Government Servants in the Defence Services borne on pensionable establishments, who are appointed on or before 31st day of December 2003, but are not applicable to (a) Railway Servants; (b) persons in casual and daily rated employment; (c ) persons paid from contingencies (d) persons entitled to the benefit of a CPF (e) members of the All India Services (f) persons locally recruited for services in diplomatic, consular or other Indian establishment in foreign countries; (g) persons employed on contract except when the contract otherwise; and (h) persons whose terms and conditions of service are regulated by or under the provisions of the Constitution or any other law for the time being in force.


CHANGES AFTER SIXTH CENTRAL PAY COMMISSION

Pension will be 50% of average emoluments or 50% of emoluments drawn on the date of retirement, whichever is more beneficial. Full pension after completion of 33 years of qualifying service who retired during 01.01.2006 to 01.09.2008. Pro-rata for qualifying service less than 33 years. From 02.09.2008, pension will be 50% of average emoluments or 50% of emoluments drawn on the date of retirement in all cases of retirement with qualifying service of ten years and above.

Maximum Gratuity limit enhanced to Rs. 10 lakhs.

Enhanced family pension for ten years in the case of death while in service.

Family pension to childless widow ever after marriage.

Additional Pension/Additional Family Pension to Pensioners/family pensioners aged 80 years and above.

From 02.09.2008, weightage in qualifying service under Rules 29, 48-B etc. withdrawn.
